We live in an increasingly interconnected world.
Through Facebook and Skype, Tinder and Twitter, there have never been more ways to connect with family, friends and strangers around the world. And yet…
People are feeling more isolated than ever.
We have an abundance of Facebook friends and Twitter followers, but few meaningful interactions. There has to be a better way.
Authentic Relating.
Authentic Relating Games are a fun, casual and touching way to meet new people, have genuine, honest conversations, and learn to communicate more deeply. People often walk away from a Games Night feeling touched, inspired, connected and nourished.
History
Authentic Relating Games emerged from San Francisco’s human growth movement in the mid 90’s. People would gather in living rooms around the city for a chance to participate in “connection games” – short activities designed to elicit intimacy, honesty and vulnerability. Since then, training organisations and community groups have sprung up around the globe to make these events more widely available.
What happens at a Games Night?
Events typically run for two hours, with a tea break in the middle. After a quick introduction where we go over the guidelines for the night, participants are placed into pairs or groups for short exercises. Activities may involve speaking, asking questions, physical movement, meditation, or some combination of these. All activities are casual, low pressure, and each individual chooses their level of participation.
When and where
Authentic Relating Games are held on the third Sunday of every month, at Lithuanian Hall in Highgate Hill.
Events run from 3pm to 5pm (please arrive early so we can start and finish on time).
We ask for a donations to help cover costs of renting the hall. Donations of up to $10 are much appreciated but it’s a “pay what you can, when you can” system that aims to support the attendance for all folks.
